FAQ's and Myths
FAQ's

Q: Do I need an IT person to transition my practice to digital?

A: No. Many facilities have very basic network infrastructures that do not require daily maintenance. With a high speed internet connection, J2 Medical can remotely support almost any IT based product for dramatically less then adding an on-site IT person.

Q: Why is your price less then the other quotes I received?

A: Many companies provide quotations that contain unnecessary, or excessive fees. They often use “fear” to make customers believe that they are in danger of a catastrophe if they don’t purchase these items. Not J2. This is why we ask questions and evaluate each facility thoroughly. We want to make certain that we provide proposals that achieve your goals—not ours.

Q: Why is your quote higher than others I have received?

A: Not every company provides the “final price” on their proposals. Some companies will tell you about all the features that their products offer, but only quote the basic items. Once you have received the product and inquire about the missing features, you will find out this can be added for an additional cost. This is not how J2 Medical conducts business. Our proposals clearly list each product proposed and include optional items for your consideration. We want to be certain that our customers make educated purchasing decisions for any product or service that we supply.

Q: How much will it cost to switch from film to digital?

A: We get this question a lot. It is very difficult to make an assessment without knowing all the facts. We invite anyone interested in transitioning to contact us for an evaluation of your facility so we can provide a proposal that marries your goals with the appropriate products and services.

Q: Should I buy DR or CR?

A: This is another popular question. CR technology has dramatically improved since it was introduced 20 years ago. CR is now a very efficient and inexpensive method to transition from film to digital. CR can support low volume and high volume facilities depending on the make and model of the CR unit. DR is a new and cutting edge method for digital transitioning. It usually is significantly more expensive then traditional CR, but fits excellently into environments that do very repetitive studies in high volumes. Many facilities often find that a blend of both products provide the most optimal workflow.

Q: Is the government doing anything to help my practice buy digital equipment?

A: Yes, the US Government has some great programs that can help your facility purchase digital imaging equipment. Please see our Tax Savings Program button on our home page or click here to see if you qualify for Section 179 benefits. We are always seeking ways to help our customers leverage federal and state government programs for the purchase of new imaging equipment.

Q: Can I save money by switching from film to digital?

A: Definitely. Many facilities don’t factor in all the costs associated with film. For example, a film requires manual intervention to be moved, filed, and located. It takes up physical space and is not reusable. It also requires chemistry for development, and takes more time for processing then its digital counterpart. The latest studies show that “on average”, it costs between $4-$6 per x-ray film used compared to CR with an average cost ranging between $3-$4 for equal output units.

Q: Can I afford digital equipment?

Yes. Leases, government tax programs, and reliable, economically priced products have made it easier than ever to transition from film to digital. The question should be… How can you afford not to?

Q: What do I do with the equipment I have?

A: Depending on the age and type of equipment, J2 Medical offers several options to help our customers find a home for old or outdated equipment. One such program is the Smart Share Program. We will give our customers discounts for donating equipment that can be used to aid healthcare facilities in less fortunate parts of our world. You also get to take advantage of the charitable tax credits for donating your “old equipment”. What a great cause, and we are proud to support the efforts of providing healthcare to those who need it most! Click here to read more about the Smart Share Program.

Q: How do you handle training?

A: J2 Medical has manufacture-trained application specialists on staff to handle all your training needs. Our specialists are also x-ray technologists, so they understand the impact this new technology can and will have on each facility. They will train your staff on optimal workflows and customize each system to maximize efficiencies. Our set-up method guarantees your staff is fully trained before we leave. We provide all follow-up training free of charge to assure that our promise is kept!

Q: Can I improve my efficiency and see more patients if I transition to digital?

A: Absolutely. On average, most customers experience a minimum productivity increase ranging between 8-12%

Q: Why should I buy my equipment and supplies from J2 Medical?

A: Quality of Service, Price, Unlimited (FREE) Product Training, Portfolio, Reputation, Consultancy, No Automated Answering Service, Experience, Attitude, and Dedication. A: Probably. We try to keep as many products on our page as possible, but with the thousands of accessories we carry, it is almost impossible to list them all. If you don’t see the product you need, feel free to call. We actually love hearing from our customers…hence the reason we don’t used an automated phone service.

A: We are always searching for talented, motivated people to join our team. Check out our careers link on our home page and submit your resume today!

The word “almost” is not in our vocabulary and we tolerate nothing less then perfection. So if you don’t love your company, give us a call and prepare to get swept off your feet. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Myths

M: Digital is too expensive. I can’t afford it.

T: Costs have dramatically dropped over the past several years and digital equipment is more affordable then ever. A host of government programs and leasing options have opened up opportunities for any size practice or facility to transition. Give us a call and we will be happy to show you how affordable it can be!

M: The cost of film is 1.50 per exposure.

T: This is a myth. When calculating film costs, many other factors need to be added. For example, filing, space, processor chemicals, water, processor heaters, maintenance, and disposal fees. On average, each film costs between $4-$6 opposed to a $3-$4 cost for a digital image.

M: CR is an old technology and is going away.

T: Not true. CR is still and will remain a critical element in facilities worldwide for many, many years to come. CR provides an inexpensive option that offers exceptional reliability, speed, and value. Improvements in speed and image quality in recent years have made CR an invaluable component within the digital arsenal.

M: The other sales rep is selling me the same thing, but the price is less…

T: Not likely. Many factors need to be considered when doing price comparisons. Hardware specifications, warranties, software functionality, manufacture, licensing, storage specifications, services, and company stability are all vital components to a proposal. Any item listed can change the price on a proposal dramatically. It is very important to understand these items, as it ultimately will affect your overall satisfaction of the product. We specialize in teaching our customers how to evaluate proposals so that an educated purchasing decision can be made.

M: DR is much faster then CR

T: The acquisition time for DR is faster, but other factors should also be considered when selecting between DR and CR. Does your facility do specialized views? Is most patients “walkie talkie”? What throughput is needed? Are tabletop and orthopaedic studies done often? All these factors contribute to overall speed and should be discussed with your J2 Account Manager.

M: PACS is PACS…

T: This is a myth. Many PACS systems visually look the same and have many of the same tools, but differences usually can be noticed in the technical details. This is where limitations occur. These limitations often become very apparent after the sale. Here at J2, we want you to be well informed about what to expect from your system throughout the life of your new PACS. It is critical to understand these differences upfront or it can and will cause added expense and headaches in the future.

M: I don’t know much about computers and digital imaging. It will be too hard for my staff and I to learn…

T: This is a myth. Our customers range from IT Directors to physicians who don’t use email or own a PC. Many companies have simplified the software to be easier then ordering a sandwich from a kiosk. We pride ourselves on training. If our training staff did not provide adequate comfort with the product, we will provide as much follow up training, as you need for free. That is the J2 Promise!
